Mathilde Bonnefoy
This nuance is the meaning of the film in miniature.
The sum of these many small decisions is the overall meaning.
Which, of course – after you’ve made a rough cut – you check and check and check …”
I am a freelance film editor originally from South Tyrol (Italy), previously lived in Austria, and am now based in Berlin.
I work on feature films and documentaries.
Editing for me is the process of discovering what a film wants to become. I approach every project with curiosity, precision, and a great deal of patience in exploring the various nuances inherent in the material.
Collaboration is essential to my way of working. I love the creative energy that arises when ideas are openly exchanged and something new emerges that was previously unimaginable.
My background in VFX often opens up creative options that wouldn’t otherwise exist or make new editing choices possible to compile the narrative.
As a post-production specialist, I enjoy designing workflows that make complex processes clear and manageable. Sometimes I simply develop them for people whose work I appreciate — including projects such as
- Fifteen Rooms (2016 – documentary)
- Pamçka (2016 – short film)
- The Man Who Ate the World (2020 – feature film)
- Höllental (2021 – series)
