Tato (wt)

A son discovers in his father’s estate not only a cultural legacy, but also a growing desire to preserve memories and rescue them from oblivion.

Tato tells the story of a man who devoted his life to preserving the Lower Sorbian language and culture. His study — a dense collection of notes, manuscripts, translations, and recordings — becomes the starting point for his son Roman’s personal search for his own cultural roots.

Through essayistic images, the film traces the remnants of a life’s work and attempts to set something enduring against the forces of forgetting and transience.
